What is the best and worst TC for a tranny rebuild?

My Dad is having his tranny rebuilt in his 99 QC auto 24v longbed 2wd. I am concerned that he gets a good Torque converter put in.
Drop me the GOOD ones by name and some of the ones that are not built well or have issues.

I really apprciate the responses. This site is a wealth of info. I know I posted on the 12v, but I have a 12v and hopefully this question crosses regardless of the valves? Who knows, I might need to rebuld mine before too long...

No tranny wars on DTR if you had been around longer you would really understand why.

I am not an auto guy, but will say that any of the big names could build you a good TC, and wanted to remind the rest of the guys to keep it civil.

That is truly an excellent and politically correct reponse and I appreciate it. I should have known beter. What would be some decent search words to find some of these discussions? I am aware that it can be a little "touchy".

We are having a local shop do it and all he does is trannies. Just want to double check as best as we can.

Thanks again!

personally i have an ATS t.c. and v.b. and love them! also seen how they work in many buddies trucks to make me go that way! also had a local dealer really close! when i was looking for what to put into mine i was down to suncoast and ats and i had enough money to go with ats and have seen there products in action on the street and drag strip which made my choice easy! only thing that sucks is the empty wallet!

Any aftermarket TC will be superior to a stock TC. I have a TCS converter and it works very good.

I think the best advice is to use the SEARCH function. The benefits, differences and opinions have been discussed many, many times. There is some great information available.

If there is not a great response to any "best tranny" thread it is probabily because the options have been discussed over and over and over...

Try doing a search and see what you find.
