What axle is on a 95, 2500 V10

I found a 95, v10 gasser, SLT, crew cab in the scrap yard. It has a full floating axle with 9/16 studs. Is this a dually axle? I haven't been able to get under the truck to measure it. I can't find any identification for the axle because the hood is gone.

If its a 2500, it shouldn't be a dually. Most likely a D70. If you crawl under it, there is a tag attached by two of the cover bolts with numbers on it. Will tell you the model, ratio and the BOM. You can take the BOM to Dana's website and it will give you the specifics of that axle, as well as the part numbers for rebuild components.

The axles all have 9/16" studs, even the little girly 2500 parts truck that I have, which is the lighter GVWR with a D60 rear axle.

Is the hood still on it? There should be a build tag there, telling you what rear axle is in it. It's on the underside, of course.

On a 2500, the V10s were the same as the diesels. Auto trans will come with a Dana 70, manual trans will come with an 80.

best to check and verify torquefan prolly has a good rule of thumb there but Jeff's V10 ram is an auto with a Dana 80. hes got what the dealer calls the pacific northwest pkg. 60 front 80 rear lockers front and rear all from the factory. it a 2500 with all 3500 axles and drivetrain save the duallys. hes prolly got a blacksheep of a ram but like i said best to check, never assume

I'm betting if you run the BOM's for those axles, neither of them came with lockers from the factory, especially the front, as that would totally defeat the purpose of the CAD and make it a bear to drive.

Just curious

He had the Dealer replace the rear axle under warranty and thats when they told him this info. something came apart in the carrier if i remember correctly. He was surprised himself to find this out. its a rare truck. he has recently built the engine ill hafta see if hes dyno'd it yet he was told it wud be right around 1000 lbft with what he had in it
