westach combo gauge's

Any one using the westach combo gauges? On my truck (95 5 speed)I have the hole in the dash where I could mount them. I can get them from geno's with all the fixings for 269.95. What about drilling in the manifold I have bits and taps

My buddy's had a Westach combo gauge in his '99 for ten years now. Great product. I've had one in my '07 for three now. Same result. Just grease the drill and tap and go slowly,it'll come out good.

I've installed a few sets of Westachs, they are a very nice high quality gauge.

Thanks for the info and the install tip from pdrdiesel. I have wondered about putting it post or pre turbo then I found out you get a more accurate reading in the manifold. Keeping the shavings out seems to be the big thing.

Thanks again

excellent quality gauges!

but

unless you are real short of space, i would recommend separate gauges, if one gauge goes down you still will have the other [hopefully].

:?)

I have no idea why, it almost seems like people think they're tapping into air intake side of the turbo.
I've installed dozens of pyros and have never used grease, magnets or removed the turbo.
Think about it, the only place any chips can go is out the exhaust pipe the first time the engine starts.
In the very rare occurrence where a large chip could stop the turbo from spinning all you have to do is leave the intake tube off on the first start to make sure the turbo spins.

i have post and pre turbo pyro sensors on two different turbo diesels with about 100f in egt s difference.
neither reading is 100% exact to the "core" temperature of the turbo, thoe pre-turbo is probably the closest.
