Weak fuel solenoid??

My truck began to take a second or so to shut off over the weekend. A couple of times I had to turn the key on and manually lift it before starting it. It would start for a second, then quit until I manualy lifted it.

thanks

Sounds like you may need to lube the throttle linkage, if it is taking a bit to shutdown.

Take it off and clean it and see if the boot is rotted out, if so clean and lube and use a bicycle tube as a boot and exhuast that effort first, then check the relay, wiring and adjustment before throwing a new one on as they are pretty tough. Goodluck,,Rick

thanks

I am going to try cleaning it and lubing the linkage to see if that may help or band-aid it for a while. Hopefully it works because it looks like they cost $200. - ouch.

any other ideas please post

About the only time the solenoid needs replacing is if it's visibly burnt up on the outside.
The solenoid is probably the single most needlessly replaced item on a 12 valve.
Most always the problem is a corroded blue wire at the battery, bad solenoid relay or rusted, gunked up linkage or solenoid plunger.
