with that plate full forward it will help to get the boost up from 17 that's for sure. I however would curb my appetite until a pyro and boost gauge live on the pillar! You're better off with more boost than without as far as temps go, but you're really flying blind. Other than that no, you're not hurting anything, but join your local support group now, as the diesel 12 step program is impossible to stay on.

Have fun and get some instruments!

I have mine disconnected and plugged. I have a #10 (full forward) with a 3000 GSK and a gutted cat - everything else stock.

With the wastegate connected I could get around 18 PSI of boost. Now with no wastegate I can get 30 PSI. My EGT never goes above 1100 Deg. but I wouldn't assume yours would be the same.

1994 models built from July 1993 to January 1, 1994 DO NOT have catalytic converters, all later 12 valves do

YEP!

The 12 valves have a cat stock. I took the pipe off between the cat and the muffler and used a combination of a hammer, wrecking bar and hammer drill to break-up and remove the insides of the cat. It has a sort of honeycomb, ceramic type of material insde. After removing it all it seems like I really didn't need to after all. It was completely clean inside and not plugged at all!

Oh yea, don't tell anyone it's empty!

My question with this would be

OK you plug up the wastegate, HOW DO YOU KNOW, you are not producing more boost than the stock 35 turbo can handle? I peg my 30PSI boost gauge oh so quickly that i dont like to keep it there too long, since my egts are post turbo as soon as they hit 950-1000 i lay off the throttle..

I have thought about plugging the wastegate, but is the proper amount of boost supposed to be known? i cannot afford a new turbo, nor do i know where my turbo is currently wastegated at.. I know the first step here is to upgrade my gauges.

what is the easiest way to set a wastegate on a 12V? adjustable elbow? if so someone please explain..

Tx

CTD2001, with all the mods you have I can't believe you haven't turnbuckled that wastegate yet. The turnbuck is cheap and easy for the 01 auto equipped trucks.
