Valve Lash ???
I'm sure someone could tell me what the valve lash is on a 97 12 Valve. I don't think mine have ever been adjusted in 235,000 mile's. Thank's for the help. Gary

.010" intake, .020" exhaust is what it calls for but you might try a little tighter on both of them i do .08" and .018".

Tell us what you find.
The only time mine needed adjustment was the first time at 24k, after that they have been right on. Over 200k on both my rigs. |
That is what I run .08 .018 good luck Jim I just had a free Saturday when I could have run the valves again..[dummy] [dummy] [dummy] Rick |
its also listed on the engine data plate on the side of the timing cover for future reference.

Why???? I set mine at 10 and 20 and it seems that I have a little valve train noise..

( .008 - .018) What you are doing make the cam a little bigger or a least a tad. Now on the hot rod when you tighten down the valve lash it would idle different and pull up to 9500 in a short order. I had the rev limet set to 7500. I remember the 427 that had aluminum heads and the lash changed a lot with heat. Or it seemed that way. That was a long time ago. I still would like to build one more some day. This time I will take rod ratio into account. I like to use the longest rod that is possible. Jim |
