vaccuum leak... again

Is it possible to have a vaccuum leak and not have any problems? I have been getting blowby horribly for a while now, but the truck runs great. I fixed the cruise control line that was leaking, but it didn't solve my problem. The truck goes into 4wd with no problems. I am definitly hoping that my blowby is due to a vaccuum leak, but it is totally possible that this isn't the case at all. I am dumping oil into the truck at a rate of about 1 gallon every 250 miles, which can get very expensive since I drive about 550 miles per week.

Very easy to check for a vacuum leak. Run the engine for a few minutes to build vacuum shut it down and wait a few minutes. Disconnect any vacuum line, if it doesn't hiss you have a leak.
An engine with no leaks will hold vacuum for several days if not weeks.

Good to know. I was not aware of that. I think I have a vacuum leak as well.

Tried disconecting a line, no hissing. What is the best method to determine the location of a vaccuum leak? Thanks.

Buy an inexpensive vacuum pump with gauge from the autoparts and start disconnecting then pumping down hoses one at a time. The one that leaks down rapidly has a leak.

That one doesn't have a gauge, here's one for half the price that does http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=92474

Oops! My bad. I actually have one with a gauge. On special it was ~$25. Bill, thanks for the link. It looks like a much stouter tool.

Thanks for the good info, Does anyone have a diagram (sort of schematics) of the vaccuum lines on this truck? I am at school during the week and am either in class or working during daylight and don't have a very good place to work on the truck. Is there just one line coming from the pump or is there a return somewhere?
