U joints

Well I did some reading and it seems that everyone here likes to go with the spicer U joints for my truck. I would like to know where I can buy some becuase I was told that I should replace those and an oil gasket that goes in the rear end because it is leaking rear end fluid. Anyone know anything about this that they would like to share with me? Thanks guys

You should be able to get spicer u-joints at any parts store. If they don't have them in stock they should be able to order them.

Try NAPA or go on line to quad 4x4.

They did last Saturday when I replaced both joints on a '97, they even had them right in stock.
I've bought rear axle seals from Napa also, I thought they were on the expensive side though at $17/ea

Ok thats strange I went to napa and he told me that they dont stalk spicer U joints so I said "ok thank you sir" and left. I found a driveline shop that can order them, but I dont know what size I need. I have a Dana 70 rear end I think and they told me to take the U joint off bring it in and they will order it. Any one have any info on this??

This seems very strange that you can not find a parts store that carries spicers. Have you tried the dealer? They may be expensive, but you should be able to find out what size you need from them. Also, look at http://www.discountautoparts.com they have alot of stuff, you should be able to find some u-joints.

Your D70 rear should have a Spicer 1410 series (external clip) rear driveshaft u-joint size...that is all the info the driveline shop needs to know to order the correct u-joint and don't bother with a gasket for the diff cover - even the factory just uses silicone on them these days.
