Troubleshooting 4x4 lockup ?
Anyone got some hints on where to start ?
4x4 seems to have quit working and with all the moisture we've had recently , I'll really have to watch where I drive.
The truck is a '97 5-speed .

Need some more hints from you. Are you sure it's not working or is the light just not coming on?
Most common problem is rotted out or disconnected vacuum hoses at the actuator, pass side, top of axle.

1) check all of the hoses for holes or being disconnected
2) make sure they are not soft or filled with oil from the vac pump
3) don't use 4x4 until it's fixed because if the axle engages late you can damage the transfer case.... just ask me how I know
