read in the manual that the the tcase in my '98 2500 takes atf. just wondering if that sounds right to everyone? i've always used gear oil on my other trucks. the are gear driven tcases though.. that might be the difference? thanks alot

I for one, think that regular ATF is a lame lubricant for a T-case, especially when I use it constantly in the winter plowing snow. Thinking that 80-90 gear lube may be too thick, I purchased an SAE 20 grade lubricant from specialityformulations.com that contains all of the anti-wear/extreme pressure additives that a gear lubricant has, but still has the viscosity of an ATF. So far, so good. Can't remember off the top of my head a PN for this lube, but it's on their site. Just my opinion.

thanks. i'm pretty sure it has something to do with chain vs. gear drive because my toyota is gear driven and it takes gear oil. like he said.. the 205 takes gear oil and it's also gear driven. 1 more thing.. i'm doing my tranny too.. do i have to use syntorq like it says on the pto cover? i bought 75w-90 amsoil gear oil for my diff and tranny already. i'd really like to use it. thanks
