Question Transfer Case removed to fix 5 gear nut now..?

Hello fellow diesel enthusiasts,

I had the transfer case removed to fix the 5th gear nut and now the 4x4 does not work. I know about the red/black lines to the Cad and they appear to have vacuum when I put the lever into 4x4 and the front drive shaft locks in but it is not in 4x4 as I can steer a U-turn without any noticeable resistance and the light does not come on. I took a look at the top of the transfer case and unplugged the large 4 line plug and cleaned it and I noticed another larger line that I traced to be attached to the rear of the engine block with a metal line that is not connected to anything and I cannot see any loose lines that could plug into it? I assume this is a vacuum line as well that needs to be plugged into ???

Any ideas as to where this line is supposed to attach to?
Thanks ppl for any info in advance.

Hi Don,

I think so as when I pull the plug off the line I feel a small suction on it. Very slight thou and not strong imo This issue I had last year when I needed 4x4 in the snow and cleaned and re secured the lines tha lead to the Cad and it was working 100%.

My question is where does this vacuum originate and the larger supply line to the top of the transfer case appears to be not hooked up to it if indeed that is the vacuum supply.??

Update I think I found the issue. Cracked/crushed steel line. Rock must have hit it will splice/repair today.
Thanks for reading and helping.
