Transfer case issue

(Transfer case) I have the NP241DLD, I heard some loud popping and the truck was jumping when I tried to pull someone out of a ditch today. I brought it home and put it up on jackstands. I then cycled through the gears and it popped when I hit the gas or hit the brakes in both low and high range. I then had my wife do the shifting and brakes. I noticed when the popping was the loudest, the front tires stopped turning and the rear end was still moving and hopping. I assume it is my chain and I ordered it and the seal kit. As this is my daily driver, I can't just tear it down and then order parts. I am wondering if anyone else had this issue and what was the verdict? (98 in signature)

I have the aftermarket cable lock for the front axle. Took out the vaccum lock. So there is no guessing if its in or not. The popping is def coming from the t-case. When I am engaging the cable lock for the front when rolling I hear a clicking when it engages. But no popping. Plus the rear end hops when it pops. I disco'ed the linkage thinking it might be binding. No change when shifted manually. I changed the transmission mount today, it had some seperation. But no change. Still leaning on the chain.........

Can't think of any other time I could have stretched the chain. Buddy couldn't move it with his 2011' PSD 4X4 Lifted. I tried a little, wouldn't move. Then Famous last words. "hold my beer and watch this" Dropped it to 4X4 low and put my pintle into it in reverse. She moved.... Then I had to show off and move the whole thing 20'. Cost me $90 and a lost saturday...
