trans temp sensor is in the cooler line coming out of the front of the trans. and the OD solenoid is part of a dual solenoid pack on the passenger side of the valve body. pan and valve body will have to come off to access solenoid pack

if you are competent in your abilities as a wrencher its not difficult. drop the pan drop the filter. then you will need to take the c clip that holds the park rod on the valve body this can be frustrating. take your time think it thru when you look at it i use a small screwdriver and needle nose to get it of and on. it will aid you as well if its not in park when you do this. disconnect shift linkage and remove levers and solenoid harness. drop the 12 or so valve body bolts and slowly drop the valve body. be careful with the accumulator piston it will fall right out with the valve body.. replace the solenoid pack and go back together in reverse order.

You do not have to remove the C clip in order to remove the valve body. I would suggest when you are ready to drop the VB to jack the rear of the truck up (and place on stands) and have someone working the rear tires back and forth. Same applys when re-installing

the reason i take it out is because of the accumulator piston. if you have to put the valve boby up at an angle (which you will if you dont take park rod off) its a SOB to deal with the accum. piston. You can do it however you see fit. thats jus my $.02. I find it less frustrating that way.
