Trans problems... round 4! The last straw

Ok. a few months ago i posed that my trans was acting up and i had a big road trip a head. Well i made the trip with no problem other then a few times shifting hard. Well now its really bad and im at a loss.

I have replaced:
-RWSS
-VSS
-New fluid TWICE!
-New TPS
and i even put on a +2 quart trans pan.

still shifts like **** and now when i first start the truck and go to put it in gear it waits then SLAMS in gear.

Plowing season is coming and i need to replace it so im going all out. New converter and trans. but i cant seem to find a good trans for a gasser there all for CTDs. I plan on swaping my truck at some point once its paid off.

I plow and tow my jeep about every weekend in the summer and i daily it. so im asking your guys what you would recommend as a good trans or company to go too for my needs. Also wondering if i should get a higher or lower stall coverter.

Any help is welcome!!!

Thanks
-Mike

Give Goerands a call. Be completely honest about what you have done to engine and trans and what you want to do to engine and what you want trans to handle and he will recommend what is needed. It is not cheap, but he will build you an awesome trans that you will never regret getting.

By the way, when you dropped pan did you adjust bands? Band adjustment can cause shifting problems. If you haven't done bands, I would give that a try. Most of the parts you listed above really don't have much to do with shift quality, just shift timing and no shifts at all and one doesn't have anything to do with trans at all, just ABS. With only 36K miles, trans should not be wore out. You may need to upgrade valve body and converter, but rest of trans should be ok.

Also, when you dropped the pan, there were no parts laying in the bottom was there? I know this is a crazy question, but it does happen.

OK i will do that. My motor is stock besides a K&N filter. and my truck is a gasser so im not making amazing power here.

No i did not mess with the bands at all. i thought about it while i was in there but didnt go through with it. Also when i pulled the pan the first time around i did not see any parts just black fragments i guess? like spots of dirt or something?

If your a gasser, don't call Goerands, they only deal with diesels. If you are running stock, then I would look around for a good reputable independently owned and operated trans shop (Stay away from the BIG chain rebuilders) and have them take a look at it. When you start combining delayed going into drive and very harsh when it does, it normally is not a good outcome.

As far as what you saw in the pan, that is just normal clutch dust. About the only thing you can check is linkage and cable adjustment and adjust bands. If rest of driveline is good (u-joints, rear end, etc.) then chances are your problem is internal.
