Trans fluid addative
Trans fluid addative
A local shop told me they can purchase an addative that you mix with conventional transfluid that will cause it to meet the Chrysler ATF+2 specs. Has anyone heard of this, and is there any problems with using this method? The extra cost for the Amsoil scares me, and with regular fluid changes from now on, I wonder if this would be sufficient. Not sure at this point how much the Syn will help me. My understanding is the Amsoil can take plenty of heat and not breakdown, but the rest of the trans system will still fry even if the Amsoil is in tact, providing it gets hot enough.
Thanks fellas

The shop where I get my work done uses LubeGuard as well. I saw it mentioned on DTT's forums. Bill Kondalay said it was a good product but noted it was a friction modifier. He was careful not to condemn or recommend it. My truck is the 3rd vehicle I've used it in. I haven't had any trans trouble in any of the 3. (touch wood!)
Do most guys use it on top of the reccomended fluid as a bonus, or are they using it to bring it into specs for the ATF+4? On the LubeGard site it says it makes it "VIRTUALLY" the same as the Mopar+4 as far as friction is concerned. I hate that word, as it means verly little. I am also sure that if I were in Waranty and had trouble, I would be denied. I am not, but don't want to risk my tranny.
