trans adjustment

got a 98 auto thats starting to slip a little in 1st & rev. gonna do a service on it but seems like i remember there being a band adjustment internally? anybody know for sure and if so what are the specs?

hi
sounds like rear band is loose .

losten locknut app 6 turns then tighten band screw till it seats firm then back out 3 turns and hold screw and retighten lock nut .

atf+4 and drive away !

Follow the thread, it'l keep you outta trouble.
I'm afraid you have more than adjustment problems. Dropping the pan will reveal. Reasoning: Band is not applied in drive/low. Clutch is slipping.
In reverse: rear band is applied, but front clutch also.
If magnet looks like chocolate Krispy Kreem donut and there is more than quarted sized load of metal in pan, keep on pulling for repair.
