Trac Bar Question

My buddies 94 dodge pulls hard to the right when you step on the brakes.. I was wondering if this is the trac bar going bad. Also what are some other symptons of a bad trac bar? The front brakes were also changed not to long ago.. So could this be part of the problem..

engcogod:

The trac bar could be part of the problem but I would
say the brakes are probaby causing most of it. Re:Trac Bar Question

A loose front end, tie-rods or track bar could cause pulling, as can any combination of the braking system, which is more likely, eg; defective pad, caliper and or rotor.

Check the track bar ball-and-socket joint above the diff. Moving the steering wheel or working the suspension up and down should let you detect play in the joint. If the track bar is worn out, you should see the track bar move in nd out on the stud that is attached to the frame.

Re:Trac Bar Question

My bet is if it only does it when braking, you either have air in the LEFT side capiler or its stuck. Jack up the left and apply the brakes normally and see if you can turn the left wheel by hand. If you can the left isn't working. Did he just do a brake job?

Re:Trac Bar Question

Could be a bad brake hose on an older truck. Had that happen before. The inside of the hose had seperated and acted like a check valve holding pressure on that side. Replaced both hoses and no more problems.

Re:Trac Bar Question

I would suspect the rear brakes being out of adjustment first if the left side auto adjuster isn't working then that wheel won't be braking very well therefore the right wheel will pull the truck to the right. The auto adjusters are known to seize up and quit working. DJ
