Tps

A friend of mine just bought a 95 CTD and the truck is kicking in and out of OD ocassionally. I suspect the TPS is acting up. Where is the best place to buy and what is the price?

Try adjusting it first. Look up TPS adjustment. I have been researching this also. Lots of info. If you buy new then it is about $200 +/-

Another possibility is noise?
Do search on ground isolators there is lots of info on them and its a common problem causing lock-up issues

Do a search for putting a POT(potentiometer) in place of the TPS. Costs abut $4 and will fix the problem for good. There is a good thread with pictures in the 1st gen forum you can check out.

I found the thread in 1st gen and read it. Has anybody done this to a 2nd gen, particularly a 97? Does the TPS control anything else on a 97 that would not allow this to be done?

I have done the mod on my 96 truck, been over 2 years now and working great. When i did mine my TPS was basically dead . Also with the POT you can adjust the voltage and have OD lockup later,, mine would usually lock up under light throttle at about 45-48, now mine locks up at 55.

When I bought my '95 back in 2001, the TPS would lock/unlock like crazy. I thought for sure I'd have to get a new sensor. I put in the noise filter kit from DTT and have never had the issue come back.
