doubt the sidewall height has much to do with the miles you get out of the tire. that would depend on tread and compound used to make the tire. you will feel every pebble you hit with the low pro's.

The 19.5 and 22 low pros are very expensive so keep thet into consideration for how long you want to keep the truck. They are easily triple the cost of the tires you have and really won't last that much longer...... for the side wall just get bigger ply tires like E. Most tires are still gonna give some buldge. I have 285/75/16 D which is lower than E And i plow with them.I also have 245/75/16 E and they still have a little buldge. My buddy has 285/75/16E and doesn't plow and still has a little side wall buldge. I'm pretty sure you can even get load range F which is for heavy heavy loads. E holds around 4200# D holds Around 3500#

it also depends on the tire quality. if you get the 29.99 special at Mr. Tire its gonna have alot more flex than a better quality tire, say a BFG All terrain 285/75/16 E. If youre looking at rims and tires, maybe look at a 17 inch rim and the sidewall will be a little shorter and you dont have to sell body parts to get a set of them like you would with the 19.5's or 22's.

The 19.5's are going to be commercial tires, so you're gonna get some decent life out of them. The 22's use passenger tires, so you won't get the life out of them. You won't notice the bulge since the tires are so stiff because of the low profile. Don't get 22's and expect to recoup your money due to tire life. You might with 19.5s, but that is a lot of wieght (fuel consumption and brake wear will increase), and they are still pretty pricey.

Don't forget that you'll probably lose fuel economy with 19.5's or 22's. Those things have got to be pretty heavy. I agree a good set of load E tires will be cheaper and should get you to 50,000 miles before needing replacement. You can try throwing some balancing beads in the new tires to prolong their life. I've never done it so I couldn't tell you by how much.

It doesn't matter if they bulge as long as you have the correct load rating and have a good footprint. If the tire is wearing evenly (good footprint) the lack of mileage is due to the tire compound- not the sidewalls. The wrong load rating- weaker sidewall- will show up as a poor footprint and uneven wearing.

You don;t say what your tires are- which is the more important thing. Personally, I am running Toyo AT's, they are wearing pretty good (this set) for 50K mile tires, I have run BFG on other trucks and burnt them up in no time, same with Goodyear Wranglers. If you want high mileage tires, you just have to look for them in the correct size and load rating, but remember the trade off is traction. Harder compounds wear longer (high mileage) but give less traction in wet and slippery conditions. You won't find high mileage mud tires, and generally the more aggressive the tire tread the lower mileage to expect.

I'm personally a fan of Pro Comp All Terrain's for a 50k tire with strong sidewalls. As far as low profiles, They where quickly on the shoulders of the tire (outter treads) due to not enough flex to let the tire move, oh that and the fact that you WILL rail turns faster because your truck will handle like a NASTRUCK! It's natural right?
