Question Tie rod end wear.

I am trying to track down a slight pull on my rig. Lately there is a pull to the right but its worse some days than others and seems to be bothered by road condition and a wind.

Anyhow, I was wondering if I pull out the dial indicator and mag base, what kind of numbers would be expected on the tie rod ends??? Is any movement acceptable? I would assume that a couple thousandths would be OK but is there a spec for such a thing??

Thanks guys..

I don't know about any specs, but I would think that if there is measurable movement in one of the joints I'd say replace it. I have also switched the front tires around and taken care of a slight pull.

Get a set of large groove joint type pliers (channel locks) and try to squeeze the joint together. Any movement is bad.

Thanks for the info guys.. Went down to the local KalTire here in town and they have a spec of not more than 1/32 of an inch so like 0.03125 which seems like alot to me.

I guess I will pull out the dial and see.
