If the ticking sound is more audible on the Driver's side, in between the cab box, i think this is normal. Mine does it, My dad's does, and all the people i know who have 12v's do it. I don't think it is anything to worry about.

It seems to be coming just above the left drivers side tire towards the front

First suspect in my case

Lift pump,

its usually a sign that its possibly goin out.. or the overflow valve has pooped out.. If your truck is over 75K on the original, its cheap insurance... just change it out. Id suggest changing out the overflow valve, its cheaper and easier... Plus heck, ive done both, my valve and LP and it still ticks every so often, it comes and goes..

mine had a ticking noise like you say and it was a fuel pump.

Well I need to do my fuel filter, new one been sitting in my glovebox for over a month if only this heavy rain would stop. I'm kind of worried about priming the system after I change it though

Do the fuel filter...

It will go away, mine did the EXACT same thing, like lighting a gas stove kind of ticking...

I have had the same ticking episodes in the past as well. If the ticking goes away with RPM then it is the overflow valve. If the ticking increases as RPM increases it is the sping in your lift pump wearing out and the rod inside the pump is slaping your cam lobe, wearing out your cam. Replace the overflow first and if it doesnt fix it but the ticking still goes away with RPM, then it is the haunted 12 valve tick, they all have it at some point.
