Tic noise caused by broken vacuum pump gear

I pulled my vac pump to check drive tang and found that the gear has two broken teeth. KDP has been done it was not that. I found both teeth below the cam gear in the housing.Motor has around 190k. this sounded like a valve that had too much lash. Make sure that tic that you think is a fuel pump really is.Using a long screw driver you could hear the noise the loudest from the vacuum pump.

Pictures of gear

This happened when we went for a trip last weekend. When we pulled in to or campground I heard it making the noise. We were about 200 miles from home.I had checked the oil be for we left and it was full as usual . I have not had the oil fill open for months. So I know nothing was dropped down there.I have put about 20k on the motor sense I put it in. I can not say if something went thru it before I owned it.

There are no other marks on any of the gears and the teeth fit back on the gear perfectly

You can see the shiny spots on the left one it looks like it was moving around I think this tooth was cracked and finally broke off

Both teeth are complete and have no chips or scar marks

If the timing gear wasn't damaged my guess is it must have been a defective gear.

Thats what I was thinking and wondering how many more are out there.I am going to adjust timing so I will have the pump gear off so I can look it over good but from turning the motor over a 1/4 turn at a time I did not see anything on any of the gears
