Throttle Linkage broke

On my was home from EJS in Moab, UT yesterday was going along and all of a sudden lost all power and teh throttle pedal was basically limp. Jumped out and found that 1/4" looking all thread that goes to the pmp broke in on of the ends. I duct taped it back together with a pen and get her home all right. Has anyone seen that before? I guess just get some new all thread and cut to the length of the old one. Is there anything to do to remedy it from happening agian? Thanks.

Been there, done that. Going across a bride in Bismark...stop!

The dealcan get you a new part. If it is just one of the connectors, they come with the throttle cable recall.

Threaded rod is the way to go. Check Mcmaster-carr. They have different grades of the threaded rod (all thread). Not sure if going with a harder grade would be a problem or not. Seems like it would increase the durability factor.

Heres the link, but I'm not sure of the thread size or pitch.

http://www.mcmaster.com/

Just type in "threaded rod" in the search feature. Many types and grades to choose from.

I keep a length of wire in the tool box for just such an occasion. Ever since I read a post similiar to yours a few years back. But, then again, I guess a shoe lace would work as well.

Do me (us) a favor, when you find out what thread and pitch it is, let us know. Probably metric. Kevin

Mine has broken 3 times, the last time being yesterday afternoon, I've got my trusty old piece of electrical wire w/ loops tied in each end on it right now. I ordered the threaded rod section and the piece it threads into, ( looks like a small piece of pipe with an offset bend in it) from a local big truck parts store, they deal in the small cummins parts as well as the big motors ( cummins, cat detroit, etc.) I got the two pieces for around $12. ordered them about 2 weeks ago, guess i'll be picking them up today , if you have a local kenworth, peterbilt, or freightliner dealership they should be able to order just the parts you need & save some money on those little ball & socket ends, hope this helps, Dusty

Tore it apart today and it is left hand and right hand threaded 6mmx1mm thread. Because of the left hand section I just got one from the dodge shop for like $30. Kinda expensive piece of rod but gotta have it I guess, even though the duct tape is working fine still.
