Those that own both 1st and 2nd gens - school me
Chevy and ford both are nicer trucks in interior and suspension, had 'em both and loved 'em. But they ain't got the Cummins!!! But everything with computers is crap as far as I'm concerned!
The 2nd Gen trucks were game changers because they influenced both Ford and GM to adopt Dodge designs and styling.
Bigger cabs? Dodge did it first in '94.
Dash controls that could be manipulated easily while driving or with work gloves on? Yep, the '94 Dodges were first there, too.
The "front fender" look with a raised hood? Dodge again in '94.
Actual usable space behind the seats in a regular cab pickup? '94 Dodge.
All these things (and more) that we've enjoyed in pickups for the last decade and a half were all implemented for the first time by 2nd Gen Dodge trucks. For the first time, Dodge set the tone and took Ford and GM by surprise.
