Suddenly using gallon oil 200 miles

After hauling heavy for 600 miles from Florida to Tennessee, I'm using quart if oil every fifty miles hauling empty on return trip, no smoke that I can see. No leaks.

Switched off OD and used a gallon in sixty miles. Left side of engine covered with oil. Dropping everywhere. Vacuum pump seal?

Also have a look around the rear of your injection pump, like where the fuel plate is located, and on the side of the governor housing where the governor springs are accessed. Maybe that round access cover came loose, it would lose a lot of oil in a short time.

Have done 3 12v's where the bolts on the front cover simply just came loose.....last one was leaking a gallon a WEEK while USING the truck. He wanted me to fix the leak....I told him I'd tighten up the loose bolts but he wanted more! I pulled and re-sealed the front cover and now the only leak is from the oil pan......a couple drips a week. He's happy as all get out now!

But a gallon in fifty miles? I have 300 miles to go to get home, and that's six gallons of oil! Is there a place in Tallahassee that I could get the seal don at? I've moved all my tools from Florida to Alabama!

I have seen the injection pump, oil return line rust out before and dump a lot of oil quickly.

Right after I posted that I saw you had determined it was the PS/Vacuum pump leaking.

Did you find someone? Not much I can help with up here, except to say it isn't too bad to change out.

So the oil is being dumped on the ground....Time for a good wash down...It will be the only way to find this leak...

After 8 years with no leaks...I also developed one...Not sure what (oil or fuel)...But washed the motor down...Now the chase begins..

Oh lucky you......I try to remain calm in those situations because everyone has to learn their job but it isn't always easy.
