Don't forget you'll need two gaskets for the lift pump, one for pump to prefilter, and another for prefilter to engine block. You should replace the short rubber hose between the prefilter and lift pump as well. Its only a few dollars at the Dodge dealer, for some reason Cummins didn't have this hose.

Lastly, while you're there, you might also want to take apart the prefilter and check, clean or replace the screen. Cummins has prefilter kit with a new screen and all the o-rings you need.

Good luck.

Since the prefilter and lift pump are held on by the same two bolts, when you take the bolts out both of them will come apart. I took the prefilter off completely, but you have to remove the feed line if you do this. You could probably use the same gaskets, and just use some gasket sealant or something. However, if you get a leak, you have to take everything off again to fix it, so I just replaced all the gaskets and hoses while I was there.

I think for these 12-valves, you don't really need a performance lift pump. The basic one will do fine. You can go to Cummins and pay about $180, USDieselParts has them for $133:

and I think Infidel has a source that has them even cheaper, Marty Thomkins(sp)?

LP is around $95 IIRC, and $35 for the overflow valve. I've read this enough times I have it memorized. I'm actually about to give him a call to get one of each for myself...whether I'll need it or not I don't know, but I'll have it.

Sweet thanks for the phone #.
I will call him tomarrow.

and what is this about injector ticking?
is it a tick or a knock sound when you have a bad injector?

edit: i'll deffinately get the both gaskets, no need to cheap out on those.
