I almost lost mine - unscrewed it, and it dropped down.. clunk.. clink.. clink.. but no 'thunk' of it hitting the ground. Suspension ate it. I had to search for some time (over an hour) and jack the truck up to eventually find where it had wandered to.
You might try a neoprene expandable freeze plug fitting from your local parts store in an 18mm size to get you by until you get a new plug.
