Starting problem

This has been happening for a while but seems to be getting worse. Sometimes when i turn the key to my truck to start it, it just clicks once, i back off try again, and clicks once (wont turn over). Until i keep trying it it finally starts. I notice the batter volt guage seems kinda low at start. Bad battery or two? Or a starter solenoid problem? If so where is it to verify a good connection?

Any help is appreciated thanks!

Ditto on the contacts, but go with the heavy duty ones you can get from Genos. The kit come with a new plunger also. You will need a good quality 12pt 10 mm box end wrnech to get the starter off. Pretty easy job and you will be good to go. Dont be too shocked when you see the shape of the exiting contacts. One of mine was down to paper thin. Do a search on here for "starter contacts" and you will get all the details you need.

Good luck.

There are a larger set of contacts that most that know do ,

http://www.fostertruck.com/dodge/default.htm

But you mentioned low battery , specific info will help for specific answers , how low ? what voltage ?
Have some one do a load test on the hole system , if batteries are questionable , then you need to replace as a set , not one at a time , they need to be the same in every way , age , brand , model and at least min spec 800 cold cranking amps each .

Maybe around 10v. The batteries i dont believe are the same (how i bought the truck.) i plan on replacing them anyways. What brand do you recommend, best bang for buck.

Thanks for quick response i will check out geno's

10v while cranking is not too bad , but a load test on each batt. is the only way to tell , I only replace what tests bad .
I have worked on truck/cars , in the repair bis for a lot of yrs , and have chosen to use just Interstate batteries , because of the number of bad batteries found in use [ rarely see a interstate go before its time , but most every other brands yes ] .
