Start up question?
Start up question?
Quick start up question for you guys. I frequently "blip" the throttle on start up for quicker starts with a disregard for the "wait to start" light to go out. I have only been doing this since the weather has been down right hot around here lately. I was told by a friend of mine that I am burning up the glow plugs by starting the truck this way. Is this true? I don't want to damage my truck, not to mention I want to save the $$$$ for BOMBS!!! TIA

Glow plugs? do you have a ferd? Cummins dosent use glow plugs in our rigs. The block under the intake runner is the heater grid. not a problem unless its really cold. some guys have gone so far as to remove the grid heater.
It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!

I never even look to see what the light is doing. Just jump in and fire it up, even if the temp is around the freezing level, which is as low as it gets here. After it has started I immediately put it in first gear and let it idle itself around the driveway which is about a 100 feet long. After I have cleared the gate I then slowly accelerate and go thru the gears. So far not a hint of trouble or a hiccup.
Gosh Darn Ford guys tryin' to make me look bad!! Thanks for the replies guys!! (I think I'm going to go put my foot up that guy's bum now!!).
