Exclamation Stalling maybe from trans

I have developed a intermittent problem. When I start driving it seem like my truck shifts early and kills the engiine. It almost seems like it's skipping 2nd and going to a higher gear. I recently did a transfluid change and adjusted the bands. The problem started about a month after that. It doesn't happen all the time. It was a problem last weekend and I drove a week with out any problems. Now it started again this morning.

its auto right? if so im guessing maybe the shift solenoid? could have gone bad? i dont know that much about the auto trans but my friend had problems with his truck similar to that, were it would shift earlier, but his engine didnt die. His truck was also gas and it was a chevy...I dont know if those facts have anything to do with it lol

Does the problem occur just when the truck is warming up, or even when its warm?

This morning it happened at start up and then again after I started it leaving a store. It was almost up to operating temp the second time. Last week it was 20 degrees in Nevada and it kept happening even warmed up.
I would have to step on the throttle accellerating to keep it from dying.

Also if I hold the brake in drive and slowly get up to 1200-1400 rpm and let off the truck stalls.
Is this a TC problem?
Sould I wire up the TC lock up switch to eliminate the lock up?
Where is the wiring diagram for that?

Any help?
Can I just remove the trans relay from my engine compartment fuse box to eliminate the TC?

Do you mean you let off the brake or the throttle?
Will it do it at 1800-2000rpm also?

Letting off the throttle it stalls.
I removed the trans relay and it doesn't happen, but it takes a lot to get the truck rolling from a stop. It tkaes about 2000 rpms to get going from a stop.
I also seems like with the relay out I don't have overdrive and cruising at 55 mph the rpm's are high around 2500.
Is this how it acts with the relay removed?
I always though overdrive kicked in at 45, but I guess that was TC lock up. I think that my overdrive hasn't worked since I've owned it.

If anyone has the same issue it ended up being the trans output shaft sensor. $23 from Dodge dealer and 5 minutes to install. Plug was dirty and it probably could of just used a cleaning.

Thanks for reporting back with the fix.
Too many threads end without a closing.

Nice to read you got the problem fixed, too.

Is your truck a 2wd or a 4wd?
