Spit and Sputter

this has to do with the truck in my sig. when it is in neutral or park and i floor it cuts out really bad like its running out of fuel. when i rev it slowly up to 2300 or so it doesnt do it but passed that it cuts out, it spits and sputters but it seems to fuel fine when its in gear. is it my fuel filter?
any help would be great

could be a couple things... Got a fuel pressure gauge? I would check that for one. Anything come out of the tailpipe? Sounds like slipped timing, badly slipped timing. Get fuel around the time this started happening? Could have been junk fuel, junk in the fuel thats plugged up the filter..... I would say, either fuel filter, bad fuel, low/no fuel pressure, or badly slipped timing.

its not bad fuel cuz its been thru multiple tanks of fuel from different stations and its not timing cuz it runs perfect in a gear and i dont think its low fuel pressure cuz it runs fine in gear like i said. ill change the fuel filter i guess thanks for yer thoughts oh and yes black smoke does come out but thats cuz of my AFC housing bein gutted and the 0 plate

So how long has this been going on then? It will run through the gears just fine PAST 2300? Slipped timing will do that at higher RPM's no matter the nature of the rev. I have driven a p-pump 12 valve truck with slipped timing, it ran like a bastard, untill the higher RPM's. I wouldnt be too soon to rule it out. Check it anyway.

no it runs fine throughout the rpm range in gear just not in neutral or park.
