So I might buy this 96 2500...

Anyhoo, I'm really hoping I get approved for a lone for this b-e-a-utiful 96 silver s/c l/b 4x4 12v 5spd with 203k for $8.5k

Here's what she looks like:

Anyhoo, was wonderin if someone could "learn" me a little bit about em mods and whatnot as far as the 96 12v goes.

These 96 12v's are mechanical and not electrical as far as programmers and whatnot go right? GSK kits? KDP slaying? Fuel plates? Timing advancing/retarding? BHAF stock replacements? Dual or single stacks? Anything else in particular to 96's?

Awesome.

So was I correct in assuming that it aint got no programmer or chips and whatnot, right?

And also, how do yall feel about that price? I haven't really even seen the truck in person yet, other than in these pictures. Bout 100 miles away from me, and won't get a chance to go see it till the weekend...

I think those terms are too short for the search engine. Try governor spring kit or killer dowel pin.

The price is probably okay, but you might have trouble getting a loan for that much. The blue book on an ST model (I think that's what it is) is about $6800 with those miles.

In answer to your mechanical vs electronic, the 12v is a full mechanical engine. No VP44 to die on you . But that also means no programmers. But that means that you can get good fun safe mechanical power (safe as long as you watch your EGTs. ).

A little about what is involved to fix the KDP:

IMO, from what I can see the truck looks to be in excellent condition for a 96Has it been repainted though? I think you should get it if you can get the funds. In PA, a truck like that would bring closer to 10,000. Good Luck

Thanks yall!

Yeah, I'm having that exact problem with the bank right now. They're dead set on only giving me nada's trade in value, which is $7750, even with sweet talkin my loan lady.

If I count my pennies I can scrounge up another $250, to offer him $8000, but I dunno if he'll be willin to sale for that much. I REALLLLLLLLLY hope so, will probably cry myself to sleep if I don't get it (seriously, been searchin long and hard for something like this).

Lordy I want this dog gone truck... Found out it has pillar pods with pyro and boost gauges, full front and rear replacements, new clutch replaced 6 months ago, mild fuelplate, k&n air filter replacement, and new paint on hood and top of cab. And a SWEET shifter ****.

I really hope he'll sell it...

Just some thoughts for you: I've bought trucks that are just amazing, but overpriced. A few months down the road I've regretted it. And at that point, my googled-eyes are gone, and the realization sets in that I got taken. And especially for 2 grand more (for me it was 1500 more than I should have paid), I got taken really nice.

Remember, there are always others out there. I promise. Just keep looking.

But, if you are okay with this how it is. Go for it. Just my two bits.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAW

YEEEEEAAAAH

They'll take $8000. Just trying to beat my bank's 4:00pm closing time dead line, or it won't happen this weekend. I'm soooooo happy. But I'll still walk away if it turns out something is horribly wrong.

Is there especially anything I should look for in specific while I'm taking a look at the truck and giving it a test drive before I hand over the check? Mind's like totally blank right now lol...

Lol I know... This thing came about in a wierd way.

Nah, if I aint like it, I just take the check back to my bank and no harm no foul. Did that before with my current truck when I was still looking. Found a few trucks I liked, had a bank cut me a check (always find its easier to negociate with a check made out from a bank for a certain amount, with their name right there on the front, there in your hand right in front of em), but turned out it was not what I was expecting or not what I wanted, and walked away and gave the check back to the bank.

Just will have wasted 200miles round trip worth of gas, if this isn't bueno.

Nice lookin' truck! Heck, that's got to be at least $1500 worth of bumpers alone on it.
Good luck.
