Smoke at idle...
Smoke at idle...
With all my mods my truck will have a haze coming out of the exhaust at idle. Sitting at intersections you can see the exhaust go by the window. Would turning the star wheel back down reduce some of that? Comments?
i wish mine did that, it would **** off all these mass holes. I got a comment the other day while the truck was warming up... "you shouldnt let that thing run, its polluting the air." I looked at the lady and gave her a rev and blew smoke all over her
!!! That was not a smart idea though seeing that she was my teacher!!!

It might. It's easy enough to try it. You could also look to see if your AFC arm is resting on your fuel plate. It should have a small gap at idle so you are not feeding extra fuel. Of course, with a tweaked IP and oversized injectors you my not be able to avoid it. When you build in the capability to feed a lot of fuel you may get it at times when you don't need it or can't burn it.
As diesel drivers continue to **** off the sheeple of Taxachusetts they will continue to raise the diesel tax and impose restrictions on the trucks.
now at idle you can clearly see the white smoke comin out of the tailpipe, and im idling at 40 psi, As Brandon stated, this is correct, out of your 370s a haze is common....
Fixes? not many that i know of, ive backed off the plate and starwheel before and still had a haze... But i didnt back off the starwheel all the way, just about halfway..

There is a screw on the backside of the AFC housing. It has a cover on it that is held on with one tamper-proof screw and a flat-blade screwdriver screw. After the cover is off, there is a set screw with a nut on it. You can back the nut off and use a torx driver to change the pre-load on the diaphragm in the AFC. Turn the screw out and you are supposed to get less fuel pre-boost.
timing is going to be the only adjustment you can make that will help... it won't cure it, but it'll help. AFC has no effect on idle... all you can do is increase or decrease fuel delivery... increasing = higher engine RPM, decreasing = lower... you're looking to change burn characteristics inside the piston bowl...
only three ways to do that. different injectors, thinner washers, or adjust injection timing.
