your 47re has electronics and it should shift threw 1st 2nd and 3rd quite soon when at half throttle or less, if not it could be your tps or bands that need adjusted. both a simple fix. mine finds itself in overdrive within a few hundred feet, take a video if you can- it should only rev near or past 2k rpm when nearly floored- but it will never feel as good as your tundra as I moved from a Duramax + allisson and just picked up a 1995 dodge as the payments on the Dmax were a pain in this economy. I feel your pain with the older 4 speed transmissions. your tundra is a fully electronic modern tranny that shifts amazing where as our dodges are far from that. My dodge does shift slow when cold, when warm it shifts good but nothing like a tundra or newer dodge 6 speed that allows firm shifting with the converter locked. The clutch fan's do take some power, and are noisy when they enguage but thats all normal, dont do a electric as the clutch fans work great. Here is a video of my 95' with firewood loaded up past the bed rails on a 5% graded nailed to the floor.

If you install the 3000 rpm governor spring the truck will shift much faster.btdt and loving the result,My truck now fuels past 2000 rpm and pulls much better towing my fiver.I see you could also install the switch to lock the TC and that would keep your drive train lock when you let your foot off the skinny petal.Helps on the hills to keep the TC locked . later Don T
