serial number location on a 12v

I need to find the serial number on my engine (1996 12v) . I have no idea where to look. I need to give this number to the dealer so I can get the correct Accelerator cable.... mine broke

I found a number just above the fuel pump on the side of the head 1460507 and a date of 05 95 is that it?

if not then where on the front cover ?

i have a 96, and my ESN (engine serial number) is located just below the oil fill tube on the side of the front engine cover.

Found it thanks! I have a PAC brake and the switch bracket was covering it
