Rubber boot fell off
Rubber boot fell off
Hey, my lift pump rubber primer bulb has fallen off. Do I need to replace the pump or will it hurt anything?
Also, my truck seems to be getting harder to start after shutting down when it is HOT only. I have checked other threads on this and they all point to the fuel lines, well I have changed them and checked them and they seem to be fine. I don't know what else to check. It sounds like a FORD when I start it after it is hot. It does start fine if I press the throttle a little, although anyone next to me does not appreciate that.
It makes a BIG smoke cloud.
Any help or ideas? The idle is right at 750-800 with AC on and with the Goerend Triple Disk, any higher and I will burn up the brakes trying to keep it stopped at a stoplight.
Thanks,
Chris

The rubber boot keeps the dirt and road elements out. Now it will let them in and when you use the primer pump, the dirt will work its way in to the O ring seals and wear them out prematurely and cause a leak, then you will have to replace the pump. How long will it last?? Till it starts leaking. Your hard starting may be dirty injectors. Try some good fuel conditioner and see if it clears up.
