resetting ABS
Does anyone know how to reset the ABS and Brake light? I had the battery unplugged the whole time I was changing my brake lines and I have brakes now and my fluid is good. The light came on when my brakes went out, I tried searching the site, but I didn’t run across anything. Thanks in advance

I’m going to have to surrender early on this one, Was the light on prior to your line rupture?
If it wasn’t and your fluid is up to level, chances are it has something to do with the low pressure/fluid reading post incident.
I’ve been stumped with mine for a year or more. I changed the rear diff. speed sensor and fluid. Now I’m trying to decipher codes.
I’m sure someone else will chime in…

I'm getting a code 10...
I think code 10 = sensor/wiring resistance (low reading)
Now I'm assuming there referring to The wires comming off the top of the speed sensor in the rear diff. to the PCM?
from the 1996 diagram
looks like a black and lt blue
white and orange
Orange
Now, "low reading" do they mean low resistance (ohms) like crossed wires?
or do they mean "low" as in not much continuity "high resistance"

It sounds like a short to me, because in my job I have never had an open or a high ohms and have it called a low, the electronics that I work on is always a short when it’s a low reading with a multimeter. I could be wrong so hey I am sure someone else will chime in and correct me if I am.

When your brakes went out did the pedal go down farther than normal like to the floor? I'm thinking that if it did the stop light switch might be at fault. They are adjustable for when you first install them and the switch might be missing the contacts. I chased an ABS/brake light problem and finally found it to be the switch.

They have 3 circuits in them. One for the brake lights, one for the cruise control and one for the ABS. They run about $15.00 and come with the instructions on how to adjust them when they are installed. You can test them but I found it hard to push the pedal and hold the tester by my self, but here are the instructions. Remove the plug from the switch while it's still in place. There will be 6 pins on the switch numbered from the back of the switch (#1) to the plunger end of the switch (#6). Pull the plunger all the way out and attach an ohmmeter to terminals 5 and 6. if there's continuity go to the next step. If not replace the switch.
Push the plunger all the way into the switch and test terminal #1 and 2. If there's continuity the switch is ok.
Just for reference, terminal 1 and 2 are for the ABS, 3 and 4 are for the cruise control and 5 and 6 are the for the brake light circuit.

It's behind the knee bolster under the steering column at the top of the brake pedal. The knee bolster is held in place by 5 screws, 3 along the bottom and 2 toward the top.
Well never mind on all of that. I was on base today fixed the brakes and the light wouldn’t go off, then about 11pm I got hungry and decided that I wanted to go to the taco stand here and halfway there the ABS and brake lights turned off. Thanks everyone
