Rear Axle Seal Part #
I was looking around my truck this week and around where the driveshaft goes into the rear axle I noticed it was kinda wet, I looked at it a few miles down the road and there was even more fluid on the axle. So I got home and called my buddy at napa to get a new seal, he looked it up and told me there were 5 different ones in the computer for my truck. How do I know which one to get? Does anybody have the part # for it?
I need to get it going again asap because I have to drive it back to college this week. I was thinking about running royal purple 75w140 in it because I'm always hooked up to or hauling something on the weekends and I've heard on here it was the best for that. I was also going to change the fluid in the front axle while I had it in the shop. Whats the capacities for the front and rear axle? The truck is a 1995 2500 5 spd with a dana 80 rear axle and 3:55 gears. Thanks Guys

Thanks infidel, I called a couple other auto parts stores and they told me to measure the drum size, so thats gotta be how they tell them apart. I've never really messed with drum brakes before, where do I take the measurement at?

The measurement is the pad width. Us 5 spd 2500 guys have a dana 80/70 hybrid, 80 center and the hubs are 70. The 3500 have the full 80 with the 3.5 pad/drum. Your truck's rear pads/drums are 2.5".
If it's just the axel to hub gasket, I just used permatex black to seal it. Make sure you super clean all matting surfaces or it will just leak again.
I made 2 trips to the parts guy before I got hub seal right.
Cheers
