Question which pumps where?

I'm in the market for a new truck and would like to stay with a mechincal pump.my question is will
my early pump on my 92' work on the later model 12v's.Also are the 12v and 24v the same block?
(will the transmissions match up?).I'm having a bit of trouble finding the truck I'm looking for. Thanks for all the help

The 94 to 98.5 P7100 pump was the best. Ive heard of guys converting early rotarys(VE/VP? cant recall) to the p7100s. These are oil lubed not fuel and about the most bulletproof.

Yes. Even the shutdown solenoid and lever are more mechanical than the VE pumps. If you have a piece of wire, you can hold the lever open and push it down a hill..

There are differences in the pumps due to different power requirements over the years, but basically they are all the same.

The 24V was the advent of electronic control.

early 98 or later 98. In 98.5 they went to the 24 valve that had the electronic controlled pump which is crap.
