Which Pump?
If you mean the injection pump I believe it is a p-7100, I am kinda new to these myself but I think that after 96 they had a few more horsepower than the 94 and 95 models did. I'm sure someone else will be along in a little while with more information for ya.
Ronco I really believe that the idea of 160 pumps being weak is BS they don't flow the fuel that a 215 does in stock form but a few little tricks and that is easily taken care of. And when I hit the dyno I hope to prove that.
yeah, i knew it is was a P7100. I was looking for the HP rating. Thanks for the info guys. Diesel dave, is there a site somewhere that gives me all the HP rating of the p-pumps from 94-98?
Sootin,
94 thru 96 autos are 160 H.P.
97 thru 98.4 auto are 180 H.P.
94 thru 96 manuals are 175 H.P. and
97 thru 98.4 manuals are 215 H.P.
Keep in mind that Cummins supplied a lot of 5.9's for other applications.
Marine engines, standby generators or emergency water pumps, John Deere tractors and plenty of other off-road equipment.
These engines ranged in power levels from 160 to 370 H.P.
The engine speeds on these engines probably also varies greatly.
If you have a p-pump in hand, you will find a large number (ten digits) or so stamped into the housing that will ID the pump.
Even the Cummins 8.3 got a p-pump. I would not know the difference personally, but it is not a direct replacement for a 5.9 pump.
So, if you are looking for complete trucks, my first four lines should help.
I think Dodge-Ram.org has a lot of information also, if I got the address right.
