Well, I got pulled for stacks and he didn't even hear it run and a week later, the same cop pulled my son and wrote the same ticket. Didn't hear it run either, just saw the pipes and pulled us over. I would think with all the stuff going on in the country, they would have more to worry about than two trucks with pipes coming up through the bed. If they are illegal, then what about all those trucks out there with cat backs and split exhausts? Why aren't they pulling them over?

My Jardine kit came with a Magna Flow 4" straight through muffler. You can drop a grapefruit through it...

So you're more fishing for something else is what you're saying then? Not so much the noise as a potential drunk to cuff and stuff? Not flamin, just trying to make sure I'm understanding you.

Yes and no, I would rather have made one serious arrest, than 100 loud exhaust arrests. We have to understand what sounds good to us does not sound good to everyone else. I mean some people actually like rap music.

Its not just fishing, there are so many laws, a cop could pull over almost every other car if he wanted or had the time to. Where I am at we have serious crimes, so exhausts are not our priority. But, when some idiot runs max rpm's white an open exhaust in front of a crowd of people standing in front of a bar, chances are he just left there.

I try to be fair to everyone, some people just don't get it or can ever understand other people have opinions.

I hope that makes sense.

The funny thing is, He was on the interstate and just got donepullinjg someone over. I saw him and pulled over to the left lane and slowed to 65 ( i was doing 68). as I went by him i let off just enuiff to let her die down a bit. He pulled out like normal and didnt come after me till about 3 miles later. I drive by local cops ( who at times seem to be waaaayy too bored) and they dont even give a 2nd thought. Thats whats weird.

That's what gets me about this guy, of course he's (an his buddy that was in to court room too) fresh out of the academy or wherever they go now-adays to get trained. After September 11'th, the company posted state police at the entrance to the plant (nuke plant of course) and I drove past them for months on end and not one ever said a word about them and that was driving under the entrance way so the sound echoed along with the noise of the engine too. Drove right past dozens of them when the boys were on strike in there (I'm in management) and not one even looked. I've been clear up in up state New York, North Carolina, out through Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, Kentucky, and a whole lot more states and no one ever looks at them from the law side. Even passed a state cop in Missouri pulling my 30 foot GN running about 75 and he never even looked.
What is it with these two, I guess they are just trying to impress someone. I'm sure everything they have on the road is 100% factory like they are trying to enforce me to be also. YEAH, RIGHT.

Been pulled over three times with stacks, both on my Ferd and my CTD. The time in the Ferd they were looking for someone in a truck the same color as mine that had been turfing yards, and they pulled me over cause my plate light was out. They let me go though and he apologized for the mistake. One time in the dodge, the officer was a cummins owner too and wanted to know who did my exhaust so he could get his done like that Most cops are reasonable I've found, but there are a few ridiculous ones out there, just like any other part of society I guess. I'd get your dB checked and if you're legal, just keep the setup you have. If you have to goto court about it, so be it. Make them look foolish if they are being it.

I have a 4 inch straight through magnaflow. When I put it on I was dissapointed that it was so quiet. After about a month the inside coked up and it sounds like a straight pipe but looks muffled when they look under it.

My truck is straight piped and no prblems yet. Our 70 Challenger however mild 400 full 3" with 2 chamber Flowmasters,. Ummm yeah its a cop magnet. But that is expected also. I got busted getting on it leaving my wife's work. So in a sense I asked for it. Still stashing the extra $$ for my stacks. Almost have 2nd thoughts. I have had no luck in looking for online vehile codes that state what is allowed and not allowed. Anyone got a website?? I'm mainly looking for FL being how I'm going be moving back there by the end of the year.

This year Missouri is requiring a muffler, a straight pipe will fail your inspection and I'm sure it won't be long before the noise police start writing tickets.

well mx261, do you have a laptop? cause if you do you can take it outside and record it, and if not, do you know anyone with a vidio camera? that would also work.

my truck looks basicly stock, and i find it there is much less headaches with it that way. i have never been pullled over for silly stuff. and now that i am 40 i don't have the desire for the bling i once had. i have a 5" system with a muffler, it is very loud at 40 psi of boost. the only give away is the 5" turndown tip on the back.

if i had a cop hassing me over stacks, i would just remind him that dodge trucks came factory with stacks[aka the little red express truck]. i have a 59 chevy 1/2 ton short narrow bed that is going to get stacks. i don't think i will get hasseled a bit, but i do have plenty of gray to let them know i am not a kid foolin around. face it young men get picked on by the cops, and the cops know that most problems come from young men. call it racial profiling, that is what it is.
