Pan Gasket

Going to replace the pan gasket on truck in sig. AGAIN. Should i stick the gasket to the block and screw the pan up dry. or should i stick the gasket to the pan and then throwit up with no sealant between the block and gasket.

Also where do i ge tthe marine rubber return lines long enough to go from tank to IP?

My boss told me to seal the gasket to the pan and use sewing throed through the bolt holes to hold it inplace on the pan while i throw it up on the block? I cant get this Son of a gun to quit leakin......

When you have the pan down, look the bolt holes over real good for cracks at the holes. That is what is wrong with mine. The service manual says to use sealer around the ends and a few inches up the sides. I always use a piece of stranded wire, stripped a couple of inches and cut off. The individual strands of copper will hold the gasket up without causing a leak. An old man, taught me that... and now I am the old man

I dont quiet understand about the wire......put it through the panthen fold the unstranded wire down onto the gasket before i throw it up?

Also, what your sayin is just use sealant around the corners or the front side and rear side of gasket then keep goin a couple inchesaround the corners up the straigh sides of the gasket?

Sorry I'm late I was on the road. Take the individual stands of were apart and put a strand through the hole and gasket, twist it tight, leave it there, of course to the outside of the pan, not inside.

On the sealant that is what the book calls for, but if you have an existing problem, seal the sucker up, won't hurt that is for sure.
