P7100 replacement Issues
well i will start off by saying this engine is not in a dodge truck. I have a 99 timber jack log skidder with a 177hp 6bta. It quit so i had the pump rebuilt. I put it back on with the guy at diesel powers instructions, He claimed that he had the pump set, all i had to do was put the engine at tdc on number one and insert the timing pin and slide the pump shaft in and torque the shaft on the gear. well in the process i ended up shearing the timing pin off in the gear, so with a mirror i found it and centered the hole in the gear with the hole for the timing pin. put the pump on, now its hesitant to start off and runs hot after about 25 minutes. Id like to know how to start over and just re time everything
You will need to time it after you follow his instructions. You will need some special tools . You will need a baring tool an indicator with a delivery valve adapter, and a delivery valve socket. Then look up your cpl number to get the timing spec. It will take you a few hours to do the timing. The info he gave you just gets the pump in position to be timed. If you do not have the tools they will cost a couple hundred bucks.
Assuming your engine is the same as as the Ram engine try this http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/94...ack-stock.html
