Ok, so I was driving my brother's 1995 3500. As many of you know, it's been converted to a five speed tranny. Well, we are sitting in a parking lot, and I'm pumping the clutch, because it's supposed to help bleed the slave cylinder, which might be the reason for the sometimes hiccuppy shifting. While I'm pumping the clutch, I'm moving the shifter back and forth in Neutral...and then I accidently shifted into 4th (i think, pretty sure it wasn't second)...while pumping the clutch. I was also holding the brake, as the truck was in Neutral...so I dropped the clutch in 4th at idle while holding the brake. The engine died instantly and the driveline made a few weird noises. I then drove the truck to ensure that all was working. Tranny shifts fine, nothing seems damaged. Any possibility I damaged something?...Talk about a sick feeling...
I highly doubt that you hurt anything. There is not enough torque in 4th gear at idle to really do anything. It actually put less stress on drive train components downstream from the transmission than stalling in 1st would have.
