One side rear brake problem

The passenger side rear wheel locks and unlocks like the abs is going off, the rear also hops when I'm on the brakes lightly. There's no leaks from the cylinder or the hub. I've done the wheel cylinders a year ago, abs sensor, drums and shoes 2 months ago. What else is left?

Maybe a bad cylinder? This all started when I had the hub seals start leaking this summer, replaced both with the stuff above.

Out of round drum or defective brake shoes. Did you use riveted or bonded brake shoes?

I had trouble with made in China brake parts. The drums were so far out of round I had to exchange them. You can tell if they are severely out of round by applying parking brake at slow speed and let truck come to a stop. If drums are badly out of round you will feel a surging as truck comes to a stop. I've learned my lesson and only buy the premium brake parts now.

Just because a part is new doesn't mean it's good.
Anymore when a truck has a problem of any kind the first place I look is for new parts.

I used to have to back down a terribly steep driveway pretty regularly, and after about 2 months of this, the left rear drum started getting really hot, and locking up under normal braking. After 3-4 times of getting under the truck and loosening the shoe adjusters I finally figured out that I was hitting the brakes too hard while backing down that driveway. I stopped doing that and the problem went away. So... just out of curiosity have you been doing a lot of backing up lately?

I haven't been backing and using the brakes hard, everything is almost level where I drive.

I'll get the truck up and spin the wheel and see if there's any tight spots. I'm wondering if I have a bad hub bearing or tire now, I'm also going to swap the tires from side to side and see if that causes anything.
