Oil Sender wrong part #?
Oil Sender wrong part #?
Hey guys!
I got the oil sender part number 3923200 off of dodgeram.org, and ordered it from Cummins. It comes in, costs me $50, and the electrical connector is not the same. Does anybody know what's going on?
My reason for getting this part from cummins is that I already replaced it with one from the dodge place and it lasted a whole 2 weeks before dropping to zero occasionally at idle. It never does it cruising down the road. Is the Mobil 1 Truck & Suv oil too thin to keep the pressure up? I have 120K on a motor that was stock until last weekend. It has been doing the oil pressure thing since I bought it with 95K. I am about to call the cummins dealer back to see if he will even consider taking this part back, but would like to know what part I need. Thanks in advance.

There is a wiring connector for ten bucks that you also need to order. It was listed over on the same site where you found your part number, but if not do not worry. All the Cummins shops know which one is needed for the upgrade on a Dodge. Just tell them your truck's CPL and the new oil sender part number.
RCW,
The local cummins parts guy talked to cummins with my engine serial number. They told him that the part #3923200 is the correct number for the oil pressure sensor for that engine. They said there is no wiring connector. They said the oil sending unit was a dodge item. I am confused, and not sure where to look for the answer. Thanks in advance for any help.

The cummins shop refunded my money for the sender since it didn't fit. I went to the dodge place and bought another sender for $35 or so and put it on.......no problems for the last several months. Apparently the first one I got from the dodge dealer was a dud. I think it only lasted a couple weeks. If you find out anything different let me know.

Take the dodge one back to the dodge dealer! It's warranted for 12/12000. Also there is a tsb for a flash on those truck for that exact problem (ereatic oil gauge readings). It may not be your sending unit at all.

2nd replacment going strong for 2 years.
The sending unit on the 12 valve is a DC part not a Cummins part I believe the temp sensor is also DC. Anything that does not go through the engine ECM is DC part.

All dodge parts are 12/12000. I Have warranted many electrical item over the years here at a dealership. Who ever is telling you different may need to check into it a little closer. The only difference in warranty is reman stuff which is 3/36, all other is 12/12.
