oil drip @ vent after hard throttle?
oil drip @ vent after hard throttle?
Hi you-all! I did the plunge and bought a 98 / 2500 / quad cab / 4X4 / 12 valve / 53 block / automatic... A Georgia truck no rust... built trans w billet converter and warranty until May 2007! The turbo's vacuums bypass has been disabled. And as far as I can tell no mods by paint on bolts, nuts, IP. It pulls pretty good. What the problem is that oil will drip out the vent after a hard throttle, not much.... I know the dipstick shows about 1/4 to 1/2" overfill? Just wondering, as I have read threads stating 5 quarts in 50 miles, hard pulling from the vent. I am looking at some antifreeze leaks, too! Another thread, if I can't figure it out... Thanks, and wish me luck! Artie
ahhhh,
looks like you've got one of those early "53's" in a 12V.
If you're loosing oil out the breather tube, infidel mentions to check for vacumn pump leak into the crankcase like a compressor.
otherwise, sounds like you have excessive blow-by (rings). do some compression tests.
