Oil consumption
Oil consumption
Howdy,
I am a new member. I just bought a 96 3/4 ton 4wd automatic. It has 148k on it and drives and runs really well. I am having one small problem though it burned through a gallon of oil in the first 800 miles I had it. I am pretty worried, I don't see it smoke any at all. And it has no leaks. Where is all my oil going and how can my motor run so well and burn that much oil. What if the used car dealer put the wrong oil in it would that cause the excessive consumption? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Might be bad turbo seals, allowing lube oil into the intake/exhaust tract - not too hard or expensive to fix...
