Oil consumption
Does anyone know what would be considered normal oil consumption for a DTC with 2500 to 5000 miles on it?

I've heard it takes a long time to break these engines in (about 10,000 miles) and I was wondering does oil consumption slow down after this amount of mileage is registered on the odometer. How much oil will be consumed after break in is completed?

Also, does towing a light weight trailer (7000 lbs.) or constant high speed driving (70 to 75 mph) affect the amount of oil consumed?

Re:Oil consumption
Higher tow weights and speeds will increase oil consumption but it should not be a lot. I don't think having to add a quart between changes for the first 20,000 is out of line. My 97 used a quart every 1,000 miles while towing a 12,000 pound trailer but didn't need any added between changes when not towing. Don't know about the 2003 yet as I have not towed. Will know more in April when we head south for a few weeks.

Casey
