nv4500 shifting better!

I just thought I would pass this along. I have been having some minor problems when shifting from 2nd to 3rd also 3rd-4th. I have researched over and over for a better deal on the trans fluid-but no real luck. So, I decided to just man up and buy the dodge fluid. The 1st price was $19.10/qt. Well, after searching...I went back to buy from dodge and the guy offered a discount to help...right around $15/qt. Every buck helps out. WOW, what a difference that fluid change made. All the gears shift like butter...sucks I was a cheap-scape and waited this long...who knows what the PO used, might have ruined the tranny. Hope this helps someone else who is having the same problems and dilemma on paying that price.Chuck

oh yeah, I bought 4 qts.,but only needed about 3.5 qts.

My trans looked like it had the red ATF in it when I welded the 5th gear nut on. I don't think automatic trans fluid comes in GL4, lol... Quad 4x4 has 2 quart bottles of syntorq for like 24 i think, but then u pay shipping so it's about the same as the mopar oil I guess. But i ordered some of it and topped my trans off because I have a slow rear output leak on the trans, and I noticed also a smoother trans.

But I also notice that the 5spd is alot louder than the auto was, it's probably that the shifter hole is alot bigger to, but thats one thing that annoys me.

sounds like it had the right oil in it ^. The mopar and syntorq are very light, mopar is almost clearish and after awhile it gets a greenish tint

I had some shifting problems AFTER I changed the fluid, but found that I had over filled it a tad. Drained out a small amount of fluid to bring it just to the fill plug threads and its been alot better.
